Wimbledon Debenture Seats: What You Get
A Wimbledon debenture is a bond issued by the All England Lawn Tennis Ground plc to fund the grounds. Each debenture gives its holder one seat, in a fixed position, for every day of The Championships across a five-year series. When a holder cannot use a day, that day’s Wimbledon debenture ticket can be transferred, which is how Wimbledon debenture seats reach buyers.
What every Wimbledon debenture ticket includes
- A named seat in the prime blocks of Centre Court or No.1 Court
- Entry to the debenture holders’ private lounges, bars and restaurants for that court
- A ground pass for the rest of the site, including the outside courts
Wimbledon Tickets: Ballot, Queue, Hospitality or Debenture
There are four ways to get Wimbledon tickets. The public ballot allocates show-court seats by random draw, and most applicants are unsuccessful. The Queue sells a small number of show-court seats and ground passes on the day. Hospitality packages sell a seat with dining at a fixed price. Wimbledon debenture tickets are the fourth route, and the only Wimbledon tickets that can change hands legitimately, because the right of transfer is attached to the debenture itself.
Ballot, Queue and hospitality Wimbledon tickets are issued to a named person and cannot be passed on. That is why buyers who want a confirmed day on Centre Court or No.1 Court choose Wimbledon debenture seats.
Wimbledon Resale Tickets
Debentures are the only Wimbledon resale tickets bought with a confirmed court, day and seat. TicketsToSee is an independent ticket broker, not the All England Club, and our prices may be above face value.
Wimbledon Centre Court Tickets
Centre Court is where most buyers of Wimbledon tickets want to be. It holds around 15,000 people, with the Royal Box on its south side and a retractable roof. The finals, semi-finals and headline matches of every round are played here. Centre Court Wimbledon debenture seats sit in the lower and middle tiers, among the best sightlines in the stadium. Play starts at 1.30pm on the first eleven days and at 1pm on finals weekend, with the singles finals at 4pm.
Wimbledon Court 1 Tickets
No.1 Court is the second show court, with around 12,300 seats and its own roof. It hosts seeded players in every round of the first week and quarter-finals in the second, with play from 1pm. No.1 Court debentures carry the same private lounge access and the same transferable seat as Centre Court at a lower price, which makes them the best-value Wimbledon tickets for a first visit or a group.
When Is the Wimbledon Final?
The Wimbledon final weekend closes The Championships: the Ladies’ Singles Final is on the second Saturday and the Gentlemen’s Singles Final on the closing Sunday, both on Centre Court at 4pm. Wimbledon debenture seats for both finals are on our Wimbledon final tickets page for the Gentlemen’s Final and our Wimbledon ladies final tickets page.
Wimbledon Schedule: Day by Day
Opening week: first to third round
The defending Gentlemen’s champion opens play on Centre Court on the first Monday, and the first week has the widest spread of big names.
Middle weekend and Manic Monday
The middle Sunday is a scheduled day of play. On the second Monday, Manic Monday, every remaining player in both singles draws plays the fourth round, making it one of the strongest days for Wimbledon tickets.
Quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals
Quarter-finals fall on the second Tuesday and Wednesday, the Ladies’ semi-finals on Thursday, the Gentlemen’s semi-finals on Friday and the singles finals on the closing weekend.

The price of Wimbledon debenture seats depends on the day, not the seat quality: every debenture seat is in a prime block. Second-week days cost the most as the draw narrows, and the Gentlemen’s Final is the highest-priced day of the fortnight.
Wimbledon Debenture Lounge Access
Every Wimbledon debenture ticket includes entry to the debenture holders’ private lounges, bars and restaurants for that court. Food and drink are paid for on the day, and restaurant tables can be reserved in advance. On a busy day, a quiet table between matches is one of the real advantages of a debenture seat.
Wimbledon Dress Code
There is no formal dress code for spectators holding Wimbledon tickets. Smart summer wear is the norm, and many guests dress more formally in the debenture lounges, particularly on finals weekend. The all-white rule applies to the players, not the crowd.
How to Get to Wimbledon
The All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club is on Church Road, Wimbledon, London SW19 5AE. Southfields on the District line is the closest Underground station, around fifteen minutes’ walk from the gates. Parking is very limited, so most visitors with Wimbledon tickets travel by train or taxi.

Wimbledon Debenture Lounges and Facilities
A debenture seat at Wimbledon is more than a seat. It is the key to a separate part of the grounds, set aside for debenture holders and their guests, where the day runs at a calmer pace than the public concourses.
Centre Court Debenture Facilities
Centre Court debenture holders have their own lounges, bars and restaurants within the grounds, offering everything from a glass of champagne before play to a full lunch between matches. Restaurant tables can be reserved in advance through the debenture holders’ booking service, which we recommend for finals weekend and the second week.
No. 1 Court Debenture Facilities
No. 1 Court debenture holders have a separate set of lounges, bars and dining rooms close to their court. The atmosphere is the same: quieter, more comfortable and a short walk from your seat.
Ground Pass Included
Your debenture ticket also works as a ground pass, so you can watch matches on the outside courts in the morning before your show-court session begins, or take in the view from the hill behind No. 1 Court.

Seating Plans
Wimbledon Centre Court Seating Plan
Wimbledon Centre Court is an iconic venue steeped in tradition, and understanding its seating plan and best vantage points is crucial for tennis enthusiasts.
Here’s a breakdown of the seating blocks, the best seats, and the coveted debenture seats:
Seating Blocks
Wimbledon Centre Court can accommodate up to 15,000 spectators, but only 2,500 of these seats are the highly sought-after Wimbledon Debenture tickets, which are distinguished by their dark mauve colouring on the seating plan. These tickets offer an exclusive experience.
Wimbledon Centre Court Debenture Seats
Debenture seats are the pinnacle of Wimbledon’s seating experience. They are located in the dark area of blocks 201 -212 and the lower rows of blocks 301- 318 of the seating plan and offer several advantages, including being on the same level as the Royal Box.
These centre-court seats come with a retractable roof guarantee, ensuring that play continues regardless of the weather. Additionally, debenture ticket holders enjoy exclusive access to Centre Court member’s bars and restaurants and the Debenture Lounge in the court.
These seats are typically guaranteed in pairs, but arrangements can be made for other groupings.
Best Vantage Points
For the ultimate view of the action, the lower and middle tiers near the baseline and centre court provide the best vantage points.
These seats bring you up close to the intensity of the matches, allowing you to witness the players’ skills and the excitement of the game firsthand.
Centre Court History
Centre Court earned its name because it was the central court on the original site of the All England Lawn Tennis Club on Worple Road. Even after the AELTC moved to its current location on Church Road in 1922, the name was retained.
Over the years, Centre Court’s capacity has been significantly expanded, with various renovations, including raising the roof by one meter in 1979, substantial works in 1992, and the recent addition of six rows of seats to the upper tier on the east, north, and west sides, resulting in a current capacity of 15,000.
Retractable Roof:
In 2009, Wimbledon Centre Court was equipped with a retractable roof to ensure uninterrupted play. This innovation prevents matches from being disrupted due to rain or excessive heat.
The roof takes just 10 minutes to open or close, with a brief suspension of play during the process. This feature provides spectators with peace of mind, knowing that they can enjoy the match without worrying about the unpredictable English weather.
Wimbledon Centre Court is renowned for hosting high-profile finals and semi-finals, making it the epicentre of tennis excitement during the championships. With its rich history, unique seating options, and impressive facilities, it continues to be a must-visit destination for tennis aficionados from around the world.
Wimbledon Court 1 Seating Overview
Wimbledon Court 1, with a capacity of 11,000, is another esteemed venue within the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club. Suppose you’re looking to explore this iconic court.
In that case, it’s worth noting that Wimbledon Debenture tickets are easily identifiable on the seating plan as they are shaded in a distinctive dark mauve. Blocks 2, 4. 6, 10, 14, 16, 18, 20,22, 24, 28, 32, 34, 36. Lower rows of Blocks 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 19, 25, 27, 29, 31, 33, 35, 37, 39, 41.
Debenture seats at Wimbledon Court 1 offer a premium experience. They are strategically positioned towards the front of the elevated stand, encircling the court, and are all priced the same for the day of purchase. These coveted seats provide an excellent view of the on-court action.
Wimbledon Court 1 is located on the west side of Centre Court and often hosts some of the most prominent players during the Wimbledon Championships. Tennis legends like Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Serena Williams, and Andy Murray have all showcased their skills on this court, creating memorable moments for fans.
The history of No. 1 Court dates back to the early days of the All England Lawn Tennis Club. Initially planned as a hard surface court, it was later completed with a grass surface in 1924 due to construction delays.
The current show court, constructed in 1997, replaced the older version due to space constraints. With a capacity of 11,000, Wimbledon Court 1 offers a more intimate atmosphere compared to Centre Court, allowing spectators to enjoy matches in a relaxed and friendly environment.
The facilities at No. 1 Court are diverse and include the food village, a Wimbledon shop, the Wingfield restaurant, and a range of hospitality suites, ensuring that visitors have access to amenities that enhance their overall Wimbledon experience.
In 2021, a significant addition was made to No. 1 Court—a retractable roof. This innovation ensures that play can continue in case of unfavourable weather conditions, similar to the successful roof on Centre Court.
It’s a crucial feature that guarantees uninterrupted tennis action and adds to the appeal of Wimbledon Court 1 as a premier tennis venue.
