Buy Golf Tickets for The Open and the Ryder Cup
TicketsToSee supplies golf tickets for the two events that matter most to British and Irish golf fans in 2027: The Open at St Andrews in July and the Ryder Cup at Adare Manor in September. Course admission for The Open is available now for all four Championship days, and you can register your interest in the Ryder Cup while the organisers finalise their ticketing.
Both events are among the hardest tickets in golf to arrange. Official demand is high, allocations are limited and the routes to a ticket are not always obvious, so this page sets out what each event is, what a ticket covers, what it costs and how to book.

The Open 2027 at St Andrews
St Andrews is where the Championship began, and 2027 is the 31st time the Old Course has staged it. It is the first return since 2022, when Cameron Smith won the 150th Open in front of the largest crowds the event had seen. The Championship is officially titled The Open Championship; in the UK it is also widely called the British Open. They are the same event, organised by The R&A.
Course admission gives entry to the public spectator areas for one Championship day: the walking routes around the course, the spectator village, food and drink outlets, merchandise areas and the open viewing positions along the fairways and around the greens. It does not include reserved seating, hospitality or clubhouse access. Prices are per person:
- Thursday 15 July — round one, the full field starts, £325
- Friday 16 July — round two and the cut, £325
- Saturday 17 July — round three, often called moving day, £345
- Sunday 18 July — the final round and the Claret Jug, £395
Championship week itself runs from Sunday 11 July, with practice rounds earlier in the week and the four competitive rounds from Thursday. The R&A publishes tee times, gate times and the daily order of play closer to the Championship. For a full guide to the course, the winners and getting to Fife, see our The Open 2027 tickets page.
Which Day of The Open Should You Attend?
Each day offers something different, so the right choice depends on what you want from a day at the golf.
Thursday gives you the full field of 156 players on the course at the same time and the easiest walking, as the crowds are at their smallest. It is a good choice if you want to follow a favourite player or see as many different golfers as possible.
Friday carries the tension of the cut, when the field is reduced to the leading players for the weekend. Players near the cut line are under real pressure, which makes for dramatic golf away from the main groups.
Saturday is moving day, when contenders make their move and the leaderboard takes shape. It usually offers the best balance of competition and atmosphere, and the price sits between the opening days and the final.
Sunday decides the Championship, brings the presentation of the Claret Jug and is the most crowded day of the week. If you want to be there when the winner walks up the 18th, this is the day, though you will need to arrive early to secure a good viewing position.
What to Expect at the Old Course
The Old Course is the oldest and most recognisable links in golf, and watching The Open here is quite unlike watching a tournament on a parkland course. The ground is open and low, so you can often see several holes from one spot and follow play across the links.
The course is defined by wide shared fairways, vast double greens where two flags sit on one surface, and ground that runs firm and fast in July. The 17th, the Road Hole, is one of the most demanding holes in Championship golf, with the out-of-bounds wall on one side and the Road Hole bunker guarding the green. The 18th, with the Swilcan Bridge in front and the town at its shoulder, is the best place to be late on the Sunday afternoon.
Champions on the Old Course include Bobby Jones, Peter Thomson, Jack Nicklaus, Seve Ballesteros, Nick Faldo, John Daly, Tiger Woods, Louis Oosthuizen, Zach Johnson and Cameron Smith. Nicklaus and Woods each won there twice.
Ryder Cup 2027 at Adare Manor
The 46th Ryder Cup Matches, the centenary edition of the contest between Europe and the United States, take place at Adare Manor in County Limerick, Ireland, from Friday 17 to Sunday 19 September 2027, with build-up days from Monday 13 September. It is the first time the Ryder Cup has returned to Ireland since 2006, and Adare Manor is a five-star resort owned by JP McManus.
The organisers have not yet released full ticketing details, so there are no Ryder Cup 2027 prices to quote and we will not guess at them. Register your interest on our Ryder Cup tickets page and our Private Client Team will contact you as soon as hospitality and ticket options are confirmed.
How the Ryder Cup Works
The Ryder Cup is different from a regular tournament, and understanding the format makes a day at the course far more enjoyable. Twelve players a side compete across three days, and 28 points are available. A team needs 14½ points to win outright, and the holders keep the trophy if the match ends level.
On Friday and Saturday there are two sessions a day: one of foursomes, where partners play alternate shots with one ball, and one of four-ball, where each player plays their own ball and the better score counts. Sunday is given over to twelve singles matches, with every player on each team in action. Matches are played hole by hole, so the atmosphere builds around individual contests rather than a single leaderboard.
The Open or the Ryder Cup: Which Is Right for You?
The Open is four rounds of individual stroke play on one of golf’s most famous links. You choose your own viewing spots and walk the course through the day, so it suits fans who like to follow different players and holes. It is also a good fit for a family day or a group of friends, as there is plenty to do away from the course in the spectator village.
The Ryder Cup is a team match play contest with a very different atmosphere, with loud, partisan crowds and matches decided hole by hole. Many fans choose to watch from around the first tee and the closing holes, where the noise and the tension are greatest.
If you want to book a golf day for 2027 now, The Open is the event with tickets available. The Ryder Cup is the one to register for, so that you hear first when options are confirmed.
Getting to St Andrews and Adare Manor
St Andrews is in north-east Fife, about an hour and a half from Edinburgh and under an hour from Dundee. The town has no railway station; the nearest is Leuchars, about five miles away, with connecting buses and taxis. Edinburgh Airport is the main arrival point, with Glasgow and Aberdeen as alternatives. Accommodation in the town is booked far in advance for Open week, so many spectators stay in Dundee, Cupar or along the Fife coast, and park-and-ride is the practical option for drivers.
Adare Manor is in County Limerick in the west of Ireland. Shannon Airport is the closest international airport, with Limerick the nearest city, and Dublin and Cork are alternatives for travellers combining the Ryder Cup with a wider trip. As with any Ryder Cup, local accommodation will be in very short supply, so plan travel and hotels as early as you can once you know you are going.
Tips for Spectating at a Major
- Dress for the weather. Links and coastal courses can turn quickly. Layers, a waterproof outer and comfortable walking shoes matter more than anything else, as you may walk several miles over the day.
- Arrive early. The best viewing positions fill up first, particularly around greens and on the final day.
- Check the conditions of entry. The organisers set rules on what you can bring, including bags and phones, and these can change from year to year. Check them before you travel.
- Respect the players. Stay quiet while a player is addressing the ball and until the shot is played. It is the single most important piece of etiquette at a golf event.
- Plan your day. Decide whether to follow one group, sit at a single hole or move around the course. You will see more golf by choosing a plan than by wandering.

Planning Your Golf Calendar
The two events are two months apart, so many fans plan both. The Open is a Scottish links in high summer, with walking routes across open ground, while the Ryder Cup is an Irish parkland resort in early autumn with a very different feel. Book travel and accommodation early for each, as hotels near both venues fill up well ahead of the dates. Questions about either event are welcome on +44 (0)203 070 3997.
