Wimbledon Debenture Tickets – How They Work
A Wimbledon debenture is a long-term bond issued by the All England Lawn Tennis Ground plc. Each debenture entitles its holder to one seat, in a fixed position, for every day of The Championships across a five-year series. Holders who cannot use a particular day may transfer that day’s ticket, and this is how debenture seats reach the market.
Why Debenture Seats Are Different
Debenture seats sit in the prime blocks of Centre Court and No. 1 Court, with an uninterrupted view of the court. Every debenture ticket also gives access to the debenture holders’ private lounges, bars and restaurants inside the grounds, and a ground pass for the rest of the site. You are not in a queue, not in a ballot and not waiting for a returns window: the seat is yours for the day.
Wimbledon Tickets Transfer Rules
Ballot, queue and hospitality tickets are issued to a named person under the All England Club’s conditions of sale and are not transferable. Debenture tickets carry a right of transfer attached to the debenture itself. Wimbledon Tickets for No. 1 Court
No. 1 Court is the second show court, with around 12,300 seats and its own retractable roof since 2019. Its schedule carries seeded players in every round of the first week and quarter-finals in the second, and play starts at 1pm, half an hour before Centre Court.
No. 1 Court Debenture Seats
No. 1 Court debentures offer the same private lounge access and the same transferable seat as Centre Court, at a lower price point. For a first visit, a group, or a second day alongside a Centre Court booking, No. 1 Court is often the best-value way to see top-ten players up close.

Each day of the fortnight has its own character, and choosing the right day matters as much as choosing the court.
Opening Week – First to Third Round
The opening Monday traditionally sees the defending Gentlemen’s champion open play on Centre Court, and the defending Ladies’ champion follows on the Tuesday. The first week offers the widest spread of big names, with the full singles draws still in play on every show court.
Middle Weekend and Manic Monday
Since 2022 the middle Sunday has been a scheduled day of play. The second Monday, when every remaining player in both singles draws competes in the fourth round, is known as Manic Monday and is one of the strongest days of the tournament.
Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and Finals
Quarter-finals fall on the second Tuesday and Wednesday, the Ladies’ semi-finals on Thursday, the Gentlemen’s semi-finals on Friday, and the singles finals on the closing weekend.

The all-white rule applies to the players, not the crowd. Comfortable shoes are worth it: the grounds cover a large area and the walk from the station takes around fifteen minutes.
Getting to Wimbledon – The All England Club
The All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club is on Church Road, Wimbledon, London SW19 5AE. Southfields station on the District line is the closest Underground stop, around fifteen minutes’ walk from the gates. Wimbledon station, served by the District line, national rail and Tramlink, is further away but has a shuttle bus during The Championships. Public parking is very limited, and most visitors travel by train or taxi.

The gates open in the late morning. Play starts at 11am on the outside courts, 1pm on No. 1 Court and 1.30pm on Centre Court, moving to 2pm on Centre Court for the finals.

Centre Court earned its name because it was the central court on the original site of the All England Lawn Tennis Club on Worple Road. Even after the AELTC moved to its current location on Church Road in 1922, the name was retained.
Over the years, Centre Court’s capacity has been significantly expanded, with various renovations, including raising the roof by one meter in 1979, substantial works in 1992, and the recent addition of six rows of seats to the upper tier on the east, north, and west sides, resulting in a current capacity of 15,000.
