Cheltenham Tickets for the Cheltenham Festival

Cheltenham tickets are the most sought-after entry in jump racing. Every March the Cheltenham Festival brings the best horses, trainers and jockeys from Britain and Ireland to Prestbury Park for four days of championship racing, and the roar that greets the first race on the Tuesday is one of the great sounds in British sport.

Demand runs far ahead of supply. The Club Enclosure sells out months before the Festival, and Gold Cup Day and St Patrick’s Thursday are always the first days to go. Guests come to us for a milestone birthday, a first Festival, an annual trip with friends or a day with clients. TicketsToSee has sourced tickets for sold-out events for over 20 years, and your enclosure and price are confirmed when you book.

Cheltenham Racecourse Enclosures Explained

Club Enclosure

The Club Enclosure is the racecourse’s principal enclosure. It gives grandstand viewing of the finishing straight, access to the parade ring, pre-parade ring and winner’s enclosure, and a wide choice of bars and restaurants. Entry is unreserved, with no allocated seat.

Tattersalls

Tattersalls sits beside the Club Enclosure, with viewing from the lawns and stands alongside the finishing straight. It is a popular choice for a lively day at a lower cost.

Hospitality at Cheltenham

Hospitality packages add a reserved table, dining and a private base for the day, and are the usual choice for client entertaining. We quote hospitality on request.

Cheltenham Festival Races and Traditions

The Four Championship Races

Each day builds to a championship: the Champion Hurdle on Tuesday, the Queen Mother Champion Chase on Wednesday, the Stayers’ Hurdle on Thursday and the Cheltenham Gold Cup on Friday. The Gold Cup, first run in 1924, is the race every jump jockey wants to win.

The Cheltenham Roar

When the tape rises for the first race on Tuesday, the crowd’s roar marks the start of the Festival. It is the moment many regulars travel for.

Cheltenham Dress Code

There is no compulsory dress code at Cheltenham, but smart dress is the tradition, and tweed is a Festival favourite. March weather on the Cotswold hills can be cold and wet, so warm layers and sensible shoes are essential.

Planning Your Day with Cheltenham Tickets

Arrive Early and Explore

Arriving an hour or two before the first race gives you time to walk the course, find your viewing spot and see the runners in the parade ring. The Club Enclosure fills quickly on Gold Cup Day, so an early start is worth it.

Food and Drink on Course

The racecourse has bars, food courts and restaurants throughout the enclosures, from champagne bars to quick snacks. Restaurant tables book up well before the Festival, so reserve early if you want a sit-down lunch.

Staying in Cheltenham

Hotels in Cheltenham and the surrounding Cotswold villages fill for Festival week, and many racegoers book a year ahead. Stays in Gloucester, Tewkesbury or Evesham are good alternatives, with easy road links to the course. Once your Cheltenham tickets are confirmed, book your room without delay.

Getting to Cheltenham Racecourse

Train, Road and Parking

Trains run to Cheltenham Spa station, and race-day shuttle buses run between the station, the town centre and the course. By road, the racecourse is north of the town off the A435 Evesham Road, and traffic builds from late morning, so allow extra time. Parking at the course is booked separately.

Race Day Timings

Gates open in the late morning and the first race is in the early afternoon, with the last race around dusk. The racecourse publishes the confirmed times for each day closer to the Festival.

The History of the Cheltenham Festival

Racing at Cheltenham dates back to the early nineteenth century, and the National Hunt Festival settled at Prestbury Park in 1911. The Gold Cup was first run in 1924 and the Champion Hurdle in 1927, and the meeting has grown into the championship week of jump racing in Britain and Ireland.

Legends of Prestbury Park

Arkle, Golden Miller, Dawn Run, Best Mate and Kauto Star are among the horses whose Festival victories are still talked about on the course. Statues and memorials around the racecourse celebrate many of them.

The Festival Today

The Festival now runs over four days in mid-March, with seven races each day. The rivalry between British and Irish stables gives the week its edge, and the atmosphere on St Patrick’s Thursday reflects the huge number of Irish racegoers who travel for it.

Why Cheltenham Tickets Are So Hard to Find

Attendance on each day is limited by the racecourse, and many regulars return for the same day every year. Racing clubs and corporate hospitality take a large share of the best enclosures, which is why Cheltenham tickets for the Club Enclosure are often gone by the time most buyers start looking.

Booking Cheltenham Tickets for a Group

For an annual trip with friends, a milestone celebration or a client day, tell us the size of your group and the day you want. For five or more guests we recommend calling before you book so we can keep your party together.
