What to Expect at the Chelsea Flower Show

Pick up a show map on the way in and decide before you start whether you are leading with the show gardens or the Great Pavilion, because trying to do both in one sweep means doing neither properly.
Wear comfortable, flat shoes — the ground is gravel, grass and matting, and you will walk several miles without noticing. Bring a hat and water in warm weather; the showground has limited shade. Food and drink are available on site but busy at the obvious times, so eating slightly early or late saves half an hour of queuing.
