La Gioconda Tickets – The Royal Opera, Royal Opera House
La Gioconda tickets are for a rare staging of Ponchielli’s grand opera, in a new production by Oliver Mears for The Royal Opera at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, conducted by Antonio Pappano. Set in seventeenth-century Venice, it follows the street singer Gioconda, who gives up everything for the man she loves.
La Gioconda is seldom staged, and this new production is a genuine event. Booking for this production has not yet opened to the general public, so TicketsToSee quotes for top-category seats in the Orchestra Stalls, Stalls Circle and Donald Gordon Grand Tier on request, date by date. Call our Private Client Team on +44 (0)203 070 3997.

Ponchielli’s La Gioconda, the Opera
The story
Gioconda loves the nobleman Enzo, who loves Laura, wife of the Inquisitor Alvise. The spy Barnaba, obsessed with Gioconda, manipulates them all. Gioconda saves her rival and ends her own life rather than yield to Barnaba.
The music
Ponchielli’s 1876 score is full of great set pieces, among them Gioconda’s ‘Suicidio!’, Enzo’s ‘Cielo e mar’ and the ballet Dance of the Hours.
La Gioconda Running Time and Age Guidance
The Royal Opera House publishes the running time closer to the first performance.
Best Seats for La Gioconda
We source seats in the top categories: the Orchestra Stalls for closeness to the stage, the Stalls Circle for a slightly raised view, and the Donald Gordon Grand Tier for a complete picture of the stage with balanced sound.
