About Hadestown at the Lyric Theatre

Hadestown takes you on a journey to the underworld and back, intertwining two mythic love stories - that of the young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and that of King Hades and his wife Persephone. Anaïs Mitchell's songs move between New Orleans jazz and folk, and Rachel Chavkin's staging builds the whole evening around a working band on stage. Seen by three million people and streamed by over 350 million, the show arrived in the West End after its Tony-winning Broadway run and has played the Lyric since February 2024. The Guardian called it "big, beautiful and emotionally blasting"; WhatsOnStage called it "the most exhilarating ride".
