Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe 2023
Popularly referred to as the “Arc”, it is Europe’s second most prestigious horse race (after the Epsom Derby).
Its roll of honour features many highly acclaimed horses, and its winners are often subsequently regarded as champions. It is currently the world’s second-richest turf race (behind The Everest).
A slogan of the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, describes the event as “Ce n’est pas une course, c’est un monument” – “It’s not a race, it’s a monument”.
The race itself – popularly referred to as the ‘Arc’ – is Europe’s most prestigious race accepting horses of all ages from 3 upwards. It was first to run in 1920 and was named after the Parisian monument which had been the scene of the Allies’ victory parade the previous year.
Due to its respected reputation, Longchamp attracts the greatest racehorses in the world over Arc Weekend. The meeting also features a number of other thrilling races including 7 Group 1 races and the Arabian World Cup; the world’s richest race for purebred Arabian horses.
