About AC/DC Brothers Malcolm and Angus Young moved from Glasgow to Australia, in 1963 and formed AC/DC in 1973. They rapidly became an Australian club attraction when their albums High Voltage and Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap and single TNT released to reasonable acclaim.
They had their first commercial breakthrough with the album Let There Be Rock (which reached Number 28 on the UK charts) in 1977. Between 1979 and 1981, their profile sky-rocketed after their albums reached platinum several times in the USA and they sold a few million copies of the album Highway To Hell (1979) which got to number 22 in the US and number 10 in the UK.
In April and May 1980, AC/DC recorded the album Back in Black that sold over 12 million copies worldwide. Their success is such that on last count in 2000, AC/DC have sold approximately 85 million albums worldwide. Their most critically acclaimed album Ballbreaker (1995) was a success too - it entered the American charts at number four and sold over a million copies in its first six months of release. Their last album Stiff Upper Lip was released in 2000.
