LE MANS 24 HOUR ENDURANCE RACE 18th and 19th June 2005
24 hours of Le Mans (24 heures du Mans) is a famous sports car endurance race held at a course near Le Mans, France, near river La Sarthe. It is organised by the Automobile Club de L'Ouest (A.C.O).
Traditionally, the race starts at 16:00 on the Saturday.
The race is run on a non-permanent track which is over 13 km long, using mostly normal country roads. Over the years, several purpose built sections have replaced the normal roads, especially the Porsche Curves section which bypasses the dangerous former Maison Blanche section between buildings. The permanent Bugatti Track surrounds the facilities at start/finish.
