Facts about the Globe Theatre. At the instigation of Sam Wanamaker, a new Globe theater was built according to an Elizabethan plan, it opened in 1997. As in the original, both the stage and the audience are outdoors. Shakespeares Globe Theatre Season runs from May to September each year. There are no performances over the winter, but the Globe Exhibition is open all year round except 24th-25th December, and the entrance fee includes a guided tour of the theatre.
